The Second “Nashestvie” in Almaty — Ten Years Later

The largest rock music festival in the CIS, “Nashestvie,” was first held in Almaty back in 2005 at the Baiserke airfield and left a lasting impression. Ten years later, this spectacular festival returned once again to the southern capital. — “It is symbolic that ten years later ‘Nashestvie’ is back in Kazakhstan,” says Alexander Ovchinnikov (Russia), Head of the Concert Department of the radio station Nashe Radio. — “We will do everything possible to ensure that the festival continues to expand its geography in the future, since not all residents of Russia and neighboring countries can afford to attend the large-scale ‘Nashestvie.’ We hope to continue our cooperation next year and make the festival even better, richer, and brighter.” The festival was supposed to last twelve hours — from noon until midnight. However, due to sound issues and soundchecks, it ended much later than scheduled.
The most persistent attendees left “Nashestvie” around three in the morning, which did not greatly upset rock fans who had long been hungry for good rock music. At the second festival in Almaty, Russian bands such as Pilot, Slot, Dolphin, Lumen, Kipелов, and DDT took part.
From Kazakhstan, the festival featured the well-known band Aldaspan, BluesMotel — veterans of rock and roll and pioneers of indie music in Kazakhstan (they opened the very first “Nashestvie” in Almaty in 2005), the bright Karaganda bands Kukumber and Fugawz, as well as LampЫ ORCHESTRA and Sputnik. All of them performed at the beginning of the festival, warming up the still sleepy crowd. The second “Nashestvie” left behind vivid emotions, a great mood on the eve of autumn, and anticipation for future rock festivals in Almaty.
